To understand four words, take charge of your own health
---- A 1200-year-old person tells you the secret of health
----- Dr. Zhu Weimin
Currently, medicine is studying how to extend human lifespan up to 150 years. However, Chinese medicine has already repeatedly created miracles of hundreds or even thousands of years in history. About more than 4,800 years ago, when Emperor Yellow learned that a 1,200-year-old man named Guang Chengzi lived on Kongtong Mountain in Gansu province, he walked hundreds of kilometers twice to meet him and show his sincerity. "Shi Ji" (The Historical Records) recorded this, and the most detailed description is found in "Zhuangzi. Outer Chapters. Zai You" (Zhuangzi, a Chinese philosophical work), with the following passage:
"Guang Chengzi was lying with his head turned to the south, and Emperor Yellow prostrated himself before him, kneeling with his head touching the ground. After a deep bow, he asked, 'It is said that you have already understood the Supreme Way. I dare to ask how to cultivate oneself to prolong longevity?' Guang Chengzi quickly straightened up and said, 'Good question! Come, I will tell you about the Supreme Way. The essence of the Supreme Way is deep and distant; the peak of the Supreme Way is dark and silent. Look at nothing, listen to nothing. Keep your mind calm and still, and your body will naturally return to normal, following the Right Way. You must absolutely maintain calmness and tranquility, not exhaust the body, and not agitate the mind. In this way, you can live long. Look at nothing with your eyes, listen to nothing with your ears, think of nothing within you. Thus, your mind will preserve your body, and your body can live long... I maintain the Great Way of Unity, in harmony with the two energies of Yin and Yang. That is why I have cultivated myself for 1,200 years, and my body has never aged.' Emperor Yellow prostrated again, touching the ground with his head, and said, 'You are truly in harmony with nature!'"
"These four words, '行將至正' ('xing jiang zhi zheng'), spoken by Guang Chengzi, can be considered the highest level of human medicine. It means being extremely normal and following the Right Way, without any health problems or sequels. The method to achieve '行將至正' does not require money or medication. It is a completely natural self-treatment method: sitting meditation or other forms of calm practices, such as 'ignore and do not listen, embrace the mind in calmness.' Is it really so wonderful? Based on my clinical observations and extended studies, Guang Chengzi did not deceive Emperor Yellow.
In a scientific study, Nobel laureate Dr. Elizabeth Blackburn proved through experiments that sitting meditation could bring the body's cells back to a state similar to 20 years ago. She invited 239 volunteers aged 40 to 70, with similar lifestyles, to participate in a 3-month sitting meditation experiment in the Shambhala Mountains in the state of Colorado, under her guidance. The volunteers practiced sitting meditation for about 2 hours a day under the guidance of professionals, and during this period, they were isolated from the outside world to avoid interference with the experiment's results.
After three months, Dr. Blackburn measured the volunteers' telomeres, and the results showed that the length of telomeres had increased by over 30% in 83% of the participants. At the same time, the amount of ROS (reactive oxygen species) in the body had significantly decreased, reducing oxidative stress. The body's cells had overall returned to a state similar to 20 years ago. "Although the samples and duration are limited, this at least shows that meditation has a positive effect on youth and body health. Modern science considers telomere length as an important indicator of an organism's lifespan, making it a kind of 'life clock.' Since 1980, Dr. Blackburn discovered 'telomeres,' located at the ends of chromosomes in cells, which are like lace tips, protecting precious chromosomes. With each cell division, telomeres shorten by a section. When they are depleted, cells undergo apoptosis, and life comes to an end. Extending telomeres means extending life. It is important to mention that Dr. Blackburn also won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2009 for her research on telomeres."
"If three months of sitting meditation can extend life by 20 years, what can be said about 30 months or even 300 months?
In reality, 'Ignore and do not listen, embrace the mind in calmness' not only provides 'bodily longevity,' but there is also 'about to be right." ( "行將至正") It can also cure many complex diseases. Diseases that medicine considers incurable, including those of congenital or genetic origin, can be treated without medication. It's truly miraculous, and I myself am a remarkable case.
So, why do sitting meditation and tranquility have such a powerful effect? In the 'Taiyi Jinghua Zongzhi,' written over a thousand years ago by Lü Dongbin, there are two key words: '臭肺' (chou fei), '臭' malodorous, '肺' lungs. If one can understand the true meaning of these two words, one can understand why meditation has so many powerful functions. This book deals with the theory and practice of Taoist meditation. According to the research of Li Shizhen (Ming Dynasty), they discovered the system of meridians, the twelve main meridians, and the eight extraordinary meridians. They also discovered a great secret of the human body: the three souls and the seven spirits. The three souls are: Tai Guang (pre-natal soul), Shi Ling (clear soul), and You Jing (obscure soul). After death, the three souls leave the body. Even if you do not believe this, modern science has already proven that the weight of the soul is 35 grams, and it leaves the body after death. The seven spirits are: Tun Zi (thief eater), Fei Du (non-toxic), Chu Hui (purifier), Chou Fei (malodorous lungs), Shi Gou (dead dog), Fu Shi (warrior), Que Yin (sparrow's sex). Among these, the first three and Fu Shi have already been confirmed by modern science, and the others are under research. Today, I will explain the meaning of '臭肺' (Malodorous Lungs) and its anatomical basis. You can see how intelligent our ancestors were!"
Having understood the meaning of these two words, many complex diseases disappear.
Why is it called '臭肺' (Malodorous Lungs)? Because the lungs and the anus belong to the same category of organs. Why?
Let's first look at the innervation of the anus and that of the urethra: both originate from the same nerve, the pudendal nerve. However, the nerve that controls the urethra is purely autonomic, meaning it cannot be consciously controlled. In contrast, the anal sphincter is controlled by both an autonomic nerve and a motor nerve, which means that humans can voluntarily contract the anal sphincter. In the absence of conscious control, the anal sphincter will contract automatically under the influence of the autonomic nerve. It serves two functions. In contrast, the urethra does not have this first function. What is the significance of all this? It is very important. Thousands of years ago, Taoist physicians used the contraction of the anal sphincter to treat and prevent diseases of the urinary and reproductive systems, such as bedwetting, premature ejaculation, uterine prolapse, etc. The principle was that when patients contracted the anal sphincter, the urethral sphincter also contracted. Both nerves originate from the same channel, and impulses from one nerve also induce impulses in the other, as the insulation between the two nerves does not have the same quality as the plastic around electrical wires in everyday life. This strengthened the urethral sphincter and prevented urine and semen from flowing freely, thus achieving the goal of treatment. I used this method to cure a colleague of premature ejaculation. After suffering for a few years, he was cured in 20 minutes, and he expressed his gratitude by bowing several times at a 90-degree angle. He said, 'It's so incredible, so incredible.'
Why is it called '臭肺' (Malodorous Lungs)? Because the lungs are similar to the anus. The vagus nerve controls all organs in the chest and abdomen, and only the lungs have a mixed nerve, while other organs are controlled by the pure autonomic nerve. So, just as the exercise of the anal sphincter can treat diseases of the urinary and reproductive systems, the exercise of lung function can treat heart, gastric, liver, intestinal, and kidney diseases, among others. However, lung exercise is not contraction but breathing: gentle, long, deep, and regular breathing, which is the principle of most energy arts. It is literally a window of survival that God left to humans by closing the door on so many diseases. Originally, the five organs and six viscera of the human body form a symphony orchestra, playing a harmonious and pleasant melody. However, in daily life, sensory organs such as the eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and skin are constantly stimulated by various sensations, disrupting the vibrational rhythm of each organ. When one organ is sick, it also affects the functioning of other organs, leading to a disruption of harmony. If we act in accordance with Guang Chengzi's teaching: 'See nothing, hear nothing, know nothing, let your mind protect your body, and your body will know longevity,' we can restore the harmonious function of all organs by exercising lung function, giving them the time and opportunity to repair themselves. That's why many people who practice meditation find that many diseases disappear one after the other without resorting to medications."
