Self-exercise
Lumbar Disc Herniation
Dr. Zhu Weimin (May 23, 2023)
A 57-year-old patient with lower back pain for 4 days, confirmed by a scan to have a lumbar disc herniation. His primary care physician prescribed medication, which he took, but his pain gradually intensified to the point where he couldn't move and could only lie on his stomach in bed. On a Sunday afternoon, his wife called me. After a tele-consultation, she sent me X-rays, scans, imaging reports, etc. I provided advice on self-exercise and immediately sent him the corresponding videos. He followed the exercises and immediately felt relief. The next day, he had no more pain and was able to return to work, canceling the planned absence for Sunday morning.
