Dr. Zhu Weimin (April 26, 2023)

Mr. 77 years old, right trigeminal neuralgia for 10 years, significant pain and electrical shock every morning, lasting one hour, difficult to bear. He takes 6 painkiller tablets every day. This disease is also known as the "suicide disease" because many patients cannot bear the pain and end up taking their own lives.

A neurosurgeon in Lyon proposed a "head-opening" intervention, but he did not accept it. His surgeon said, "If you don't undergo surgery, you will have pain for the rest of your life!"

Clinical examination:

The posterior cervical skin folds on both sides are not symmetrical. Cervical mobility has greatly decreased, and there is pain with left and right rotation.

X-rays and scans show significant staged arthrosis, old cervical bone lesions, and loss of physiological curvature.

Treatment:

  1. Manual cervical mobilization, one session every 2 weeks, for over 3 months.

  2. Acupuncture.

  3. Daily self-cervical exercises.

  4. Lifestyle changes: Exercise, eating less meat, less baking, more steaming, etc.

  5. Diet to promote blood circulation and cleanse the vessels: Red onion, kelp, turmeric, black fungus, etc.

The day after the first treatment session, he reduced the dosage of painkillers by 50%.

6 weeks later, he no longer had electrical shocks.

After more than 3 months, he had no more pain, only a slight tingling sensation that was not bothersome. The treatment was stopped, but he had to perform cervical mobilization exercises on his own every day.

Four years later, the patient returned because the pain and electrical shocks had returned.

Examination:

He did not correctly perform the exercises that should be done at home, which caused the recurrence.

Treatment:

Same as the above treatment, 3 sessions, followed by exercises at home. After 4 months, the pain and electrical shocks disappeared.
